It’s been quite fun creating these little PictureRoom episodes. Everything is so new to me—editing, sharing my thoughts, and revealing the process behind my post-processing techniques. The positive feedback has been encouraging, so I’ll keep at it as I start editing new photographs. In the meantime, I’m excited to demonstrate how my Lightroom preset works during my editing sessions. I’d love for others to download it, try it out, and follow along with my approach. You might learn something new while watching. Personally, I’m always intrigued by how other photographers edit their work. There’s always something valuable to take away and incorporate into my own process. After all, there are no truly original ideas anymore. Everything builds on previous concepts, continuously improving in complexity and foundation.
In this episode, I explore a couple of new techniques. One is utilizing Photoshop’s generative fill feature. As I mention in the video, some might hesitate to use it because it involves removing elements that were originally in the photograph. However, I’m all for enhancing my art to better align with my vision, even if it means altering the original image. After all, artistic endeavors allow for personal creativity. This feature works wonders for eliminating distracting elements and enhancing your photograph.
I also delve into Dehancer’s grain feature in more detail. I downloaded Dehancer a while ago to edit my digital files with a more analog process. The program is quite unique, but lately, I’ve been using it mostly for its grain feature. If you’ve ever tried using Lightroom’s grain, you’ll notice the lack of control. Real film grain doesn’t affect the highlights much, and with Dehancer, you can control where the grain appears—highlights, midtones, and shadows. It’s a fantastic tool if you’re looking for that authentic film look in your photographs.
You can watch the latest episode [here]. Please consider liking, subscribing, and sharing if you find these videos helpful or entertaining. As time goes on, I’ll refine what PictureRoom should be, but for now, I enjoy sharing my editing process and offering my Lightroom Presets for download (which you can try out [here] as well).
Also, if you download the preset and donate +$5 I will mail you a free 5x7” print. Restricted to those in the USA because international shipping is expensive :(

Hiding in Hudson
I have a few more copies of my photo-zine, “Hiding In Hudson” available! There are only 30 copies printed and I hand number and sign them. A great little collectors piece if you follow my work. I’m happy how it came out and I’m thankful for those that have picked one up already!
